Penguins, Snow Leopards & A Wedding

In the Wild, in Cheshire.

A truly wild and wonderful wedding set in the heart of Chester Zoo. Their day took place in the zoo’s old Lion enclosure—now a stunning ceremony and reception space steeped in history. If you look closely, you can still see the original claw marks etched into the stone walls, a quiet reminder of the space’s past life. It made for an unforgettable backdrop, blending raw character with romance, and perfectly suited a couple who wanted something completely unique for their wedding day.

A Soulful ceremony

After a romantic, soulful ceremony, Samantha & Conor emerged into the square for their bubble confetti tunnel. Guests gathered close as soft bubbles floated through the air, creating a moment that felt both celebratory and beautifully understated. The low hum of conversation, the easy laughter, and the passing trays of canapés set the tone for the rest of the day—relaxed, elegant, and full of quiet joy.

Unmistakably wild.

We made our way around the zoo—from Africa to Asia and everywhere in between—making the most of our time wandering through Chester Zoo’s enclosures and soaking in the incredible surroundings. Each location offered something completely different, creating the perfect backdrop for portraits that felt effortlessly romantic, a little wild, and unmistakably Vogue.

Essence of wild.

Samantha & Conor had a real eye for detail, weaving subtle nods to the zoo throughout their styling. Tables were named after animals—Tiger, Lion, Lima, Orang-utan and more—adding a thoughtful, playful touch without ever feeling themed. The overall finish was beautifully editorial, with a palette of beiges, browns, golds and creams layered with soft greens, perfectly capturing the essence of the wild in an elegant, understated way.

Speeches spoken, meal devoured - Samantha & Conor made the most of the September sun, taking full advantage of golden hour when the zoo closed to the public and we got a guided tour around some of the zoo with the guests. The snow leopards came to say hello and of course the penguins stole the show - as they always do!

that penguins present smooth pebbles to potential mates as a courtship ritual, acting as a "proposal" to build a nest together.

EVENING REVELRY

As evening guests arrived, the pace shifted instantly and the celebrations kicked up a gear—the room quickly transformed into a full-on rave cave. The atmosphere at Chester Zoo is truly second to none; this venue really does have it all.

Samantha & Conor’s attention to detail carried effortlessly into the evening, with wedding favours that felt deeply personal. Gift bags were filled with thoughtful creations that reflected them as a couple, the charities they support, and Samantha’s love for Taylor Swift and Disney. We had friendship bracelets galore!

And then came the moment no one saw coming, Samantha joined the band on stage to sing the iconic Love Story. It was electric. I’m fairly sure I forgot to take photos for a moment, caught somewhere between pure awe and singing along (Swifty problems). One of those unforgettable wedding moments that reminds you just how magical these days can be.
